  SUPER MARIO MAKER

 Nintendo

			Need
a plumber? Now you can have the world’s most famous tradie on tap...
Over 30 years the Super Mario games have treated us to
the very cream of platform gaming – which it pretty much invented.
The greatest minds in game creation have spent
hours/days/weeks/months/years slaving over hot graph paper in order
to do so. Now, you can join this elite company.

 Yes,
Super Mario Maker is just what it says it is, an opportunity to
flex your game design synapses and have Mario do your bidding in
levels based on his original adventure, Super Mario Bros 3,
Super Mario World or New Super Mario Bros U.

Being from Nintendo, SMM oozes slickness – and welcome
handholding initially. Fire it up and you start playing a level
until – uh-oh - there’s a bloody big hole. Some quick drag and drop
instruction later (with delightful in-time musical piece plopping)
and you’ve finished it and get to play with more of Mario’s toolbox.

Classic landscapes, enemies, friends and most anything else you
can namedrop from Mario’s scrolly history await the fearless creator
			– eventually. In an apparent attempt not to overwhelm, it takes nine
days for all content to unlock. More intrepid types will uncover a
workaround, but such tactics shouldn’t be necessary.

 Once
you’ve created your masterpiece you can upload it so that the world
can experience your brilliance. You can also download the creations
of others. Creativity clogged? Play other peoples’ levels, or hit
some built-in ones which also unlock upon completion within your box
			of building tricks.

While some great things can be crafted,
there are limitations. There’s no multiplayer, you can’t insert
checkpoints and superfans will bemoan the lack of some lesser-known
characters – and all of the Dokified Super Mario Bros 2.

If you’ve ever thought that you could do better than living
treasure Shigeru Miyamoto then here’s your chance. Good luck with
			that...
