JUST DANCE 2015

Ubisoft

Because I’m h- not now Pharell, we’re busy!

An annual event for a while now, Ubisoft’s Just Dance is to Xbox exclusive Dance Central what Homer Simpson is to Fred Astaire. That may sound like an insult. It isn’t.

Because I’m ha- not now Pharell, we’re busy!!!

JD, which, for the uninitiated (really?) is a hypercoloured game where you and one, two or three friends/housemates/acquaintances/home invaders flail about in front of your PS4 camera (or bust a Move), vaguely emulating incredibly coordinated onscreen avatar-types to a variety of songs, scoring more points the better you jiggle. Although we stress that we use the word “variety” loosely.

Because I’m hap- NOT NOW PHARELL, WE’RE BUSY!

While odd classics like Run DMC and Aerosmith’s rap/rock collision ‘Walk this Way’, the best Stock, Aitken and Watering can track in Dead or Alive’s ‘You Spin Me Round’ and the Tetris theme (oh yeah!) made us smile, numerous Nobodys feat Whosiwhatsits induced yawning. Otherwise, the 45 core songs feature usual suspects like Katy, Rihanna, Gaga, Miley and Will.I.am, as well as, inevitably, Pharell.

Because I’m happ- seriously? Come on dude...

As the modern way seems to be sharing everything from the biggest milestone to the smallest botty burp, online’s a large component of JD15. You can challenge anybody worldwide, join community remixes (get votes and your footage may be interspliced with others globally) and maybe even be a world beater. Like somehow we beat five others on ‘Bad Romance’, and we’ve all the rhythmic chops of week-old porridge. Suck that, Sweden!

Our key series bugbear remains, which is the inability to import previous release tracks you own, and while better than JD14, the track list’s still genrely myopic.

Because we’re... oh fuck it. Despite odd grumpfs, with JD15’s easy accessibility we sported a goofy grin lolloping about our lounge. We guess we’re... HAPPY?!

take me back to the start...
